Trying to Get on Track
We finally got Anya's tummy issues under control, but she was awake for three solid hours this afternoon and apparently got overtired. She started screaming when she realized she was falling asleep, and I finally had to put her in her swing until she wore herself out crying for about five minutes. Ugh. We'll get settled into a routine that works eventually. All the experimenting until then is a bit frustrating, though. And exhausting when her screaming fits correspond with the times I'd normally be asleep. My parents watched her this morning so I could get some rest, and I ended up sleeping until after noon. Heh. At least I'll be energized for tonight's possibility of screaming baby tantrums. But I'm hoping we've got her regulated enough as far as formula goes to avoid anymore crying brought on by gas or constipation which is what we struggled with all weekend.
As alert and happy as she was this afternoon I had thought we were past the tantrums, but newborns can get overstimulated and wear themselves out to the point of frustration. So I'm thinking that's what happened when she was awake for so long this afternoon. I will but her down for a nap earlier next time instead of playing with her and probably extending her awake time as a result. I was just excited that she was awake without screaming and got a little overzealous with the tummy mat time.
I'm feeling pretty good other than being a little tired. I feel like I might need an appetite suppressant to go back to eating normal amounts, but I've lost about half of the pregnancy weight in the past week. I'm slowly shedding it a couple of pounds at a time as the swelling goes down, and my body readjusts to life after pregnancy. I'm a little sore still but nothing crazy. I can't believe it's been over a week since I gave birth already. But at least I know the next few weeks will probably go by just as quickly; I'm looking forward to feeling like myself again. Getting Anya onto a better routine will help on a daily basis. Here's hoping she cooperates.

Aww... Hopefully it won't take too much fretting to get things going.
