Possible Spit Up Resolution
In case you missed the worried twitter update, Anya choked on her spit up last night. Full on not breathing choking. Scary stuff. My dad ended up staying up with her all night because we were afraid she would choke in the middle of the night, and we'd be asleep and none the wiser. This morning I promptly scheduled an appointment with the pediatrician as early as I could get in. The doctor decided to switch her to soy formula based on our family history of being unable to tolerate milk based formulas as infants. If that doesn't solve the spit up problem by her next appointment on Tuesday then they will run all of the tests to see if she has reflux. But we didn't want to torture her with all of the tests required at the hospital if the fix is as simple as changing to soy formula.
So far after her first soy bottle she barely spit up 1/2 a teaspoon and has been asleep for almost four hours which is the longest the doctor said to let her go between bottles other than her long stretch of sleep at night since I'm one of the lucky few that has a baby who will sleep 5 to 6 hours at night from time to time. So we'll see how it goes from there. I'm thinking about heading up to Toys 'R' Us to get a bouncy seat for the gas issues that have decided to come back. And with being on soy that will probably only worsen so she's getting one bottle with a dose of prune juice at dinner time every day per doctor's orders to keep the constipation at bay. And a bouncy seat will relieve gas much better than a swing. We shall see. In other news I think I'll need the best diet pills ever to not be fat after that potato soup and apple crisp my mom just served for dinner. Pretty sure I'll lose ten pounds my first week in Jacksonville just from not being as well fed.
