Maternity Portraits

What follows is my attempt at doing my own maternity photos. I ghetto rigged my bedspread - which I desperately need to replace - as a backdrop and used the timer on my camera to snap a few shots. Balancing the camera on just the right surfaces at just the right levels for each kind of shot was probably the most difficult part. Then I cropped all of the photos to my liking once I'd uploaded them to the computer. I took way more photos than this, but these are the handful that I actually liked in the end. I'll probably give this another go sometime in the next couple of weeks because I had a few more composition ideas that I just got too tired of balancing myself, the camera, and the bedspread to attempt by the time I'd finished with these.

These photographs won't be winning me Orlando vacations in any contests in the near future, but I'm proud of what I've done so far. I consider myself a decent photographer for the every day kind of stuff I usually need to shoot, but when I am the subject things get tricky. I need to come up with some better methods of taking good self portraits. I wish I could set my camera to do an entire series of shots on timer. That would make things easier than having to reset the timer and hitting the shutter for every single picture. Heh. I'll have to play with it some more and see what magic I can work. In the meantime, feel free to give me some feedback on this set. I don't want to be delusional in thinking I did a decent job if I didn't. BEWARE: There are several shots of my bare pregnant belly with my bra showing a little at the top. I think they are done artistically, but if you are offended by such things or are in a place where you shouldn't have naked bellies pulled up on your computer you may want to turn back now!
