Kaching
I've been shopping online like mad today. Haha. I'm just really motivated to get everything done for both the baby and the apartment I'll be moving into at the end of the year. I want to have all of the extra expenses out of the way so that when I start paying rent I don't have to worry about squeezing anything extra out of my monthly budget. In the recent months I've acquired a new dining room table and chairs, a new TV, a crib and dresser/changing table for the baby, crib sheets, a pretty rug for the nursery, four craft storage cubes, a new filing cabinet with hanging files, and probably a few other odds and ends, not including clothing, that I can't recall off the top of my head.
Today I ordered an entertainment center, two nightstands and a headboard for our bedroom, a crib skirt, and a breathable bumper for the baby's crib as regular crib bumpers are actually a suffocation risk. Heh. Luckily my grandparents gave me a crib mattress that once went on Shelby's toddler bed, so yay! And they are gifting the Pack 'N' Play I want while my parents intend on gifting a baby swing. So those things will be taken care of. My biggest concern is the living room furniture I still need. Ryan and I want a black leather sofa for easy cleaning and to combat the dog hair from Kieran. Those don't come cheap. And then depending on the kind of sofa we get, I need end tables and maybe a coffee table. Plus simple desks and chairs for our office space.
Everything else I'm just making do with. I'm going to repaint my mother's old dresser that I've had for years along with the mirror, a small bookshelf for the nursery that looks like someone drop kicked it through the goal posts of life right now, and my new craft cubes so that they will all match the other furniture I've been purchasing. I'd like to have a glider for the nursery, but I don't want to overdo it. I'm already pouring money into all of this other new furniture and car repairs to salvage the Buick and make it pretty again. And I'm working on paying off my student loan from that year I was UT before the baby arrives so that it's gone forever! In the meantime I have to get all the fun stuff for Baby like a monitor, breast pump, bottles, pacifiers, light blankets, extra clothing accessories, etc. Fun, fun, fun. No, really, shopping for baby stuffs is fun! It's checking the bank account afterward that's not so fun.

Anyone interested in home alarm systems? As an apartment renter, my options are a bit limited in that department. I'll look into it more when it's necessary.

First, I LOVE your last post -- that's all definitely true.
Second, it's good that you're getting all that shopping out of the way now and won't have to worry about it later. :)
