Airline customer service = my new worst fear. Sharks have nothing on India based call centers.
Whoa. It's been almost a week since I blogged? How'd that happen? Guess that's how it is when all of your days blend together. Heh. They all kind of feel the same and before you know it weeks have passed without your realization. Oops. So the good news is Ryan's plane ticket is booked. The bad news is we may have to change flights which is seemingly impossible without paying the airline twice what we already have just to fly out a day later. We'd only have to pay $100 extra for Ryan, but because I booked on my own so long ago for super cheap, paying the difference for my ticket would cost several hundred dollars. Yeah. So I hear after being on the phone with both United Airlines and Priceline.com for over an hour. Which resulted in getting absolutely nowhere.
The thing is Ryan's graduation has been pushed back a day to Wednesday. For some reason they don't want any of the students leaving until after 4PM on Thursday. Our flight leaves before lunch. Ugh. So after my frustrating attempts to change our flight to no avail, Ryan finally just went to his chain of command and asked to rearrange some of his paperwork processing around for the day of graduation and early Thursday morning so we can still leave on time for our current flight. Last I heard from him it's looking good, but I'm at the ready to just pay the $100 to change Ryan's flight and then just fly home alone a day before him. Here's hoping we can get out of here together.
We're ready to be settled and excited to furnish and decorate our new abode over the coming months. I've been surfing the internet looking for deals on a sofa and tv stand as both are, of course, important to have. Heh. Although it's going to be a while before we can afford such things after all of this airline chaos. Geez. It's always something...
Though I did get a laugh out of the gaggle of high school students getting off their bus this afternoon as I was walking past them to my apartment from the 7-11 for a mini-grocery run to last me until the end of the week. One of the guys shouted a greeting across the street and asked if I was a Marine. When I said that I am a Marine's wife, the guy's friend was quick to put him straight and say, "She's a Marine's wife. She cannot get down with you." Haha. And then they kept torturing this poor girl with them by instigating the German Shepard across the street so it would stand with it's front paws on top of the the fence. I kind of felt bad for the dog, though. I talk to it and stuff from my doorstep when I'm coming home all the time. It seems like a nice enough dog. I doubt it would hurt anyone. It probably just wants someone to play fetch.
