Yay for Facebook/MySpace Surveys

[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and repost as The Controversial Survey?
Yes. I'm never afraid to give my opinion on something when asked.

[02] Would you do meth if it was legal?
No. I prefer to keep my life entact, both physically and the things I've earned.

[03] Abortion: for or against it?
I'm all about choice. But let my clarify that. I could never, personally, have an abortion, no matter what the situation. But it is not for me to decide or judge another woman who chooses to live with such a decision on her conscience for the rest of her life. I don't think it's right to take an unborn life when you chose to take part in the act that leads to that consequence, but I also don't think any woman should be told what she can or cannot do with her body. It's the individual's decision, I believe, and in many times the child's life would not be very fulfilling if born to someone who would've rather had an abortion. Talk about screwing your child up for life when they hear all about how you wanted to get rid of them but weren't allowed. Ugh. There is adoption, etc., but, realistically, how many kids would end up abandoned or in a bad home life if abortion were no longer an option for those women who can live with that choice. As I said, I could never and would never, but it is not for me to say what every other woman should or shouldn't do.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
No. I think it depends on the woman, just as it would depend on the man. It depends on the person. And if we are all about equality as far as the war of sexes is concerned, it all just depends on the person; gender has nothing to do with it.

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
I've never really made a firm decision on this one. I'm all about an eye for an eye, but you always have to consider people who really are innocent or set up in some way. It's too late to take it back once their life is taken. So while it's a good ideal and the whole an eye for an eye system is quite the deterrent from certain crimes, in today's society of politics and games, you never know how many innocent people could be hurt or killed in the name of justice.

[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes. Not because I want anything to do with it, but because making something illegal seems to just encourage the rebellion of doing it. And seeing as we do other things habitually that are just as dangerous to our health, like smoking and drinking, why not legalize it? Just make driving under the influence, etc., illegal, same as with alcohol. There is no difference.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
Neither, really. If you can hold out for marriage, I say go for it, because it does make it so much more special when you've only been with that person you're spending the rest of your life with. But in today's society, it just isn't a practical norm anymore for most people. The thing I hear the most is, you want to make sure you're sexually compatible with someone before you're stuck with bad sex for the rest of your life. But I say, if it's the right person, and it should be if you're marrying them, there's no such thing as bad sex as long as that love and connection is there. Because that's what it should be all about. So I say, do as you please, but I'm glad I've only been with the man who is my forever.

[08] Do you believe in God?
Yes. I'm an Agnostic Theist. I believe in a higher power, call it whatever you like: God, Fate, Destiny, an any name other religions have for it. I call it God because I grew up Christian, and it's what I know. I am no longer Christian, but I do believe in a higher power and that certain things are just meant to be in this life. Everything else, I'm still deciding. I'm having a tough time sticking with the Christianity route, because I treat the Bible as Christianity's version of mythology; stories and so forth to explain why the world is what it is. And I hate the idea of every religion that differs ever so slightly from whatever branch of Christian someone is, being so wrong that all of those people are banished to Hell. And, as far as that goes, I don't believe in Heaven or Hell, either. Too fairytale for me. Just something to control people. That's why I'm not a fan of organized religion. I regard myself as spiritual rather than religious. Because I think there is something bigger out there, and the basic moral principles of Christianity still stand true through most religions and belief systems the world over. But that's as far as I go for right now. Time will tell where my beliefs settle. I'm not really set in stone on anything. I'm always trying to learn and discover what it is I believe; lots of soul searching. I'm open minded.

[09] Do you think same-sex marriage should be legalized?
Yes and no. I think that same-sex partnerships should be given a way to have the same rights as married couples, but I think it should be called something else and have differences necessary given the situation. Everybody wins. But no extremist on either side will ever come to that compromise. Heh. Sad, considering marriage is one big compromise. Why can't we all just get along, eh?

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Yes. I think they have enough options to enter into a life better than the one they are living in legally. And the illegal population is turning our country into a Spanish speaking majority, which is not what this country is built on. Not to mention the employment problems it has caused. Don't even get me started. I'm as soft-hearted as the next person, but it's not as if they don't have other options.

[11] A twelve-year-old girl has a baby. Should she keep it?
That depends. I, personally, don't think a twelve-year-old is capable of being a mother so young, but I do think she should at least give adoption a chance if she doesn't believe herself capable of motherhood. Of course, I still stick by my opinion on it being the mother's choice what she does with her body as far as abortion goes. It just isn't the right choice for me.

[12] Should the drinking age be lowered to 18?
Let me put it this way: if you're old enough to smoke and go to war where you could die for your country, you're old enough to drink. Lower it.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
No, that would be asking for more attacks, etc. We're in, and we have to stay in until things are stable enough to get out, whatever that means. Anyone who is there by this time is someone who is voluntarily in the uniformed services and knew what they were getting into; I don't want to hear any complaints. You signed up for it; be proud and do the job your country has called upon you to do.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal
Again, this isn't one I've really formed an opinion on. I actually don't have any collected thoughts on the subject worth stating.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Yes. When they are young, they don't understand time outs or reprimands without some kind of fear to go with it. As they get of school age, I think spanking should be mixed with other consequences and slowly weaned down to only restrictions of some sort as those are more effective with an older child who'd prefer a spanking that's over with in a few minutes to months of no TV.

[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
No. I'm a proud, patriotic, military wife, and anyone who would do such a thing should move out of the country that has given them so much if they can't give that much respect back. Don't just threaten to move to Canada if you don't like something; do it. Nothing makes me angrier than people griping about our country when they really don't intend to do a darn thing about it. Don't like it, move somewhere else and see how things go for you.

[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
At this point, I'm not particularly fond of either, but I'd rather have McCain. I need someone who's going to respect this country, its flag, and have the understanding to be the commander of the military my husband has pledged himself to. I need someone who is going to give the military the funding it needs to keep my husband safer. So McCain it is.

[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Most people who know me well already know the answers to most of these questions so I don't expect a huge fall out from stating my opinion in written words.
