Going to California

My plans have altered a bit, but the basic idea is still the same. I'm flying out to San Francisco on the 27th of this month to stay with my friend Megan while I keep in touch with a realtor in 29 Palms where Ryan is. Once the realtor has something for me to see I'm going to fly down to Palm Springs and take a bus to 29 Palms (hopefully around the first week of September), stay there in a hotel (hopefully on base), and spend a few days visiting Ryan (He'll have off-base liberty at that point.) while I check out furnished studio/1 bedroom apartments close to base. All I need is a bus stop for the base route; anything and everything I could possibly need to do I can do on base with my military I.D., which I'll finally be able to get once I get out there with Ryan.

I'll be staying out there in whatever little apartment I can get on such short notice until Ryan is done with his MOS Schooling, which could be anytime between October and January depending on how long his delay actually ends up being. We're both excited about me getting there, and Megan and I are excited about getting to hang out in San Francisco for a while. I've never been farther west than Nebraska...and I was 2 at that point, so I don't remember farther west than right about here. Haha. So it's going to be an experience for me, but I'm looking forward to it.

In the meantime, I'm here packing up what extra stuff I still had out. I've rented a storage building to put all of my stuff in to make moving it easier later and to get it all out of my dad's garage. I'm only planning on taking my clothes and the bare necessities in terms of electronics to California, hence the furnished apartment. No point in moving all of our stuff out there for a few months. We'll just wait until our permanent duty station after he graduates. I just want to be where he is; so we're making it happen. We want to enjoy married life a little before he gets deployed or, heaven forbid, a remote tour of duty for 18 months. I don't want to look back and regret not having taken this opportunity to spend a lot of time with him should either happen.
