The Life of a College Student
I have officially begun my college career. My first class is Introduction to Art, and it's an AM class, meaning I'm in class from 8:30AM to 11:30AM. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have an orientation class with my advisor from 1PM to 2PM. Otherwise the day is mine after class. I ride to Tusculum with my mother, since she works there, and sit at the library on campus until she gets off of work at 5PM. I just do homework or read a book, something like that. Plan on studying my Japanese during my free time there, as well.
In the next few weeks, I'll have a "work study" set up where I can work anywhere from 5 to 10 hours a week after class Monday through Thursday in a Tusculum Office doing secretarial work and graphic design for Admissions. I will only be working at McDonald's on the weekends. Friday nights, Saturday mornings, and Sunday mornings: 26 hours. So I'll have my thirty-some hours, just not all at McDonald's anymore. (Yay!) The woman I'll be working for at Tusculum this semester is trying to get me approved to work full time this summer and part time as her assistant every school year starting next year. (I would go back to full time each summer.) Then I wouldn't have to work at McDonald's anymore if I didn't want to! (Which I don't.) So I'll be working weekends at McDonald's until mid-May, by which time I should have all the money for Japan ready. I'm going in June, so just 5 to 10 hours of pay at Tusculum isn't going to cut it. I still need $1200 for my trip, so McDonald's is a must at this point. Afterward, I'll only be working at Tusculum if everything pans out. *happy dance* Let's hope everything goes as planned!
My first class yesterday went well. Bit of homework, but I'll make it out alright. I always do. Wish me luck with the quiz on last night's reading assignment! I'm not sure what to expect! I'll probably bomb this quiz, but afterward I'll know what kind of questions will be asked and be better able to pass quizzes in the future. Which is good because I'll be having one every morning. -_-;; Off I go.
